How we work - some common questions

If I tell you something - do you tell my child's school?

No - we only contact a school or pass on information if you give us permission. The only time that we would talk to someone else without your permission is if we think that you or your child is at serious risk.

How can you support a parent/carer with a meeting?

We may not always be available to support you at a meeting, but if we do not have anybody available someone will try to help you to prepare for the meeting.

If someone is available they will try to make sure that:

  • everyone know what the meeting is for and who everyone is -
  • everyone has the chance to speak and put their point of view
  • any confusing words or jargon are explained
  • you get the chance to ask your questions
  • everyone is clear about what has been agreed and what will happen next.

Can Parent Partnership Service help me to make a complaint about my the way decisions have been made about my child's education?

Parent Partnership Officers are able to help parents find the right way to voice their complaints and to try to find a solution which suits everyone.

This may include:
• Meetings at the child’s school or with governors;
• Meetings with Local Authority representatives;
• Mediation hearings;
• Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunals.

How can I let you know if I have a compliment, comment or complaint about PPS?
